This autumn, Somerset House presents 24/7, a landmark exhibition examining our inability to switch off from our 24/7 culture. It brings together 50 multi-disciplinary works that explore the unrelenting pressure to produce and consume around the clock.

Our immersive audio installation, Somnoproxy, features in the exhibition. It includes a futuristic story written by Stuart Evers of someone who offers services to sleep on behalf of wealthy executives who are too busy and stressed to sleep themselves. The narrative is read by actors Enzo Clienti and Kate Ashfield, with a sonic accompaniment we created with the Moog Sound Lab UK.

Visitors are invited to lie down in a personal auditorium called ‘Island’, designed by L-Acoustics Creations.

Running from 31st October 2019 to 23rd February 2020, the exhibition is curated by Somerset House and Sarah Cook, and is inspired by the book 24/7: Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep by New York-based art critic Jonathan Crary.
