LONDONION WITH STEWART LEE
We’re delighted to be presenting a new version of our sound piece LONDONION made with Stewart Lee at the Neo-Ancients festival in Stroud.
The installation will form part of “Floralia”, an exhibition presented by TIN MAN ART at Rattle & Brash, 137a Summer Street, Stroud, GL5 1PH. Running from 1-4 May, the exhibition takes its inspiration from the ancient Roman festival celebrating Flora, the goddess of spring, flowers, and youth. The festival, known for its lively and provocative atmosphere, serves as a source of inspiration for the exhibition’s exploration of themes of fertility and renewal.
The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of paintings, drawings, and mixed media works by renowned artists, including Stanley Donwood, Sue Webster, Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard, and Hecate Asterick.
LONDONION was originally commissioned as an iPhone app by Film & Video Umbrella for ‘MerzBank’, a repository of artists’ online works that draw their inspiration from Kurt Schwitters. The piece is based on a sound poem by Schwitters from 1946, ‘London Onion’. The app is no longer available.
The Neo-Ancients Festival features three days of Music, Talks, Films, Books, Art, Ritual and Lore across multiple venues in Stroud. More details including the full line-up and ticket information can be found at: neoancients.com.
