I've built my world around you is one of the first works Iain and Jane concieved and made together. It is a sculptural work made up of 100 home-recorded compilation tapes - Volumes 1 -100 of 'A Tape for Jane' - with handwritten inlay cards listing the tracks on each. The tapes are housed in a wooden tape holder which is wall-mounted. This is Iain and Jane's first work to key itno the potential of the compilation tape, a motif which runs through a strand of their practice. I've built my world around you is a succinct and powerful observation of love and obsession, it's a quiet and understated piece that both symbolises and actually contains an imploding enormity of meaning.
