Co-Conspirators
J Spaceman
Best known as leader of his current band Spriritualized, Jason was also formerly a member of Spacemen 3. But you knew that, right? We're thrilled to be working with Jason on the composition of the music for Silent Sound, our project for the Liverpool Biennial 2006.
Ciaran O'Keeffe
Ciaran lectures in psychology at Liverpool Hope University and can also regularly be seen on paranormal TV shows such as Most Haunted. We are collaborating with him on the psychological and parapsychological aspects of our Silent Sound project.
Charles Poulet
We met Charlie at the ICA, where he handled the live sound for File under Sacred Music. We're delighted to work with him again on Silent Sound, where he's our audio consultant, overseeing the live sound and ambisonic recording/installation.
Chris Bigg and Vaughan Oliver at V23
What the fuck does Silent Sound look like? When we asked ourselves that question, the only people we could think of who might understand how to visualise it was Vaughan and Chris. That's exactly what they did, and we salute them.
John Bell at FXV
Our Silent Sound project starts with a live performance at St. George's Hall in Liverpool, but when it comes to taking that live experience and creating a physical installation for 10 weeks at Greenland Street we needed help with designing the space, so we worked with the brilliant John Bell at FXV architects.
Nikki
Trow
We worked with Nikki, a professional dancer, on Walk
With Nauman (Re-Performance Corridor). She's toured with Kylie
and Blue and can be seen in numerous music videos.
StudioTonne
A Brighton-based interactive design agency headed by Paul Farrington,
who we worked with to produce Anyone
else isn't you - our online project commissioned by
JJ Charlesworth for the George Rodger Gallery in Maidstone.
Plan
B
We worked with 21-year-old Ben AKA Plan B on Walking
After Acconci (Redirected Approaches). He's an enormously talented
musician and performer. Plan B is signed to 679
Recordings, home of The Streets and Futureheads.
The
Field Mice
Bobby from the band and Matt from Sarah Records kindly gave us permission
to use the song Anyone
else isn't you in our film of the same name.
Momus
We first met Momus in 1994, when he wrote the first ever preface to
Words & Pictures
for us. He also wrote the epilogue to the final issue and played at
the ICA during the farewell party. More recently Nick wrote The
music is all that matters and love is everything, a text for
our Anyone else isn't
you catalogue.
Steve
Lamacq
Steve wrote Tape Me I'm
Yours, a great text for our Anyone
else isn't you catalogue. An edited version also appeared in
The Guardian Guide under a different title.
JJ
Charlesworth
Anonymous Lovers
by JJ was published in the Anyone
else isn't you catalogue. JJ also presented a gallery talk
on our work at The Hospital during the exhibition.
Epic
Soundtracks / Nikki
Sudden
When we made Everybody
else is wrong in Montreal we really wanted to use the song
of the same name by the late Epic Soundtracks as the title music. Epic's
brother, Nikki Sudden, very kindly allowed us to.
Tom
McCarthy
Tom attended the filming of File
under Sacred Music, chaired the panel discussion that took
place immediately afterwards and wrote an extensive essay on the project
for the This Much
Is Certain catalogue titled Nests,
Puke, Frames and Baby Faces.
Holly
Golightly
A former memeber of Thee Headcoatees and a legend in her own right,
Holly performed the role of Poison Ivy in File
under Sacred Music. Our film also featured Bruce Brand and
John Gibbs from Holly's own band.
Bruce
Brand
Bruce plays with Holly and a gazillion other bands. In his spare time
he makes excellent record sleeves for bands like The White Stripes.
For File under
Sacred Music he stepped into the role of Bryan Gregory.
The
Parkinsons
Afonso Pinto, former lead singer with The Parkinsons, took on the role
of Lux Interior for our film File
under Sacred Music.
Core
Arts
Members from the mental health organisation Core Arts took part in the
filming of our film File
under Sacred Music. Bands, DJ's and film makers from the organisation
also performed at the ICA debut.
Robin
Mahoney
Robin worked closely with us on the editing and directing of our film
File under Sacred
Music. We spent many hours together experimenting with degrading
film and damaging VHS players.
Simon
Ballard
Simon is a good friend and superb musician. Thanks entirely to his help
we produced If
I Can't Change Your Mind, the first track by The Thirds, the
3rd person invariably being the one with musical talent.
Chris
Starling
Having been fans of The Starlings, we were delighted when Chris asked
us to create artwork specially to be used for his solo album Sounds
Like Chris Starling, released by Popchild Records.
Pretty,
you may be...
During the making of our film Made
in England in 1998 we hooked up with Toby and Dom, who created
the extensive graphics needed.
The
Contemporary Wardrobe
This amazing collection of street fashion owned by Roger K. Burton first
provided costumes for us in 1998. Since then they're supplied many impossible-to-find-elsewhere
items for various projects.
